It was a great post. I've been to Aomori Pref several times but have never been to Hirosaki. There were lots of findings from your post.

I'd like to see "Hanaikada", the way the cherry petals that fall on the moat of Hirosaki Castle become like a carpet.

Thanks, Hideo. Obviously Hirosaki Park is mainly famous for the Cherry Blossom and Autumn festivals, but even going "off-season," it's still a wonderful place to stroll around.

Great photos, and I also loved the photos. I've been to Aomori but not Hirosaki, and you have encouraged me to put that right. The north of Japan is so full of beautiful places. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Jeffrey, I'm glad you enjoyed my piece. On that trip I also went to Osorezan (Mount Dread), another must-see place, and Hachinohe, not especially beautiful but I like port towns, and on Sundays they have a morning market to die for with mountains of street food to try.

Where are the apples, amigo? It sounds like Dazai didn't like apple so much. If you love apples, you want to live a long life. Don't you?

Sorry Rey, I'm on Dazai's side and apples are way down on my list of favorite fruits.

This said, local bakeries make a vast assortment of apple pies. I tried a couple, and they were very good.

Absolutely gorgeous! What brought you there? I’d love to see this one day.

Yes, it was a glorious day for walking around and taking pictures. And unseasonably warm.

I visited four different places in Akita and Aomori for my magazine, but I also hope to include the stories I gathered in the book (a travelogue) I hope to publish in the not-so-distant future.
