A really fascinating, funny, and kind-hearted post! I really love the way you reach out to all people and all parts of culture. The more we listen to others, the more we learn. :)

Thanks, Kathleen. I confess I was a little worried about posting this series of essays and interviews about Japan's sex industry. But as you said, at the end of the day I'm just curious about people, what they do and how they approach life. I never try to judge anybody.

Hi Gianni, just stumbled upon this post. Very interesting!

A question: in hindsight, do you think having the interview agreed to by the manager inhibited Riri from answering truthfully, either outright or by omission?

I just ask because there are no shortage of filmed interviews with soapland / delivery health / etc. women who are fairly obviously telling the viewers what they want to hear.

Hi Daniel. Thanks for reading my post. Of course, when it comes to interviews, you can never be 100% sure. However, I didn't get the impression that Rin was twisting the truth. She clearly told me what I could ask and what I couldn't. Also, what she said confirmed the information I had already found elsewhere.

I have done hundreds of interviews and I find that the trickiest ones are with "important people" with political or corporate interests to protect and a sizeable public image. They are those who always want to check the text of the interview and make changes.

PS Thanks for pointing me out “Yama: Attack to Attack"

Thanks for the response, you make a great point about who's most likely to be jerking your chain.

I can send a direct link to an online version of Yama: Attack to Attack if you want - but it's a dodgy Russian streaming site so I left it out of the note. I grabbed the video though so I have a copy offline but it really is terrible resolution. Now I think about it, maybe I'll try running it though an AI upscaler. Would love to discuss the film once you've seen it :)

Thanks, Daniel. I have already found the online version you mentioned. I happen to be a daily user of that dodgy Russian site... I know, it's a torrent-like site, but boy, it's a treasure trove of video delights!
